Louis Toffolon Elementary School celebrated Read Across America on March 1st. Students participated in different Makerspace-based activities such as building free standing tuffula trees, Thing 1 and Thing 2 traps, and redesigning a hat for the Cat in the Hat. Students in fourth and fifth grade reflected on positive reading memories they have and shared them with each other using Padlet, "an online bulletin board." Students also enjoyed guest readers who visited their classrooms throughout the day! The Toffolon Student Council added to the Read Across America celebration by serving as guest readers to younger classmates, sponsoring spirit days throughout the week and hosting two estimation stations where all students could make educated guesses about the number of goldfish in a bowl.
