What programs does Plainville Adult and Continuing Education offer?
Plainville Adult and Continuing Education offers a variety of programs for residents and non-residents. Government mandated programs are available tuition-free for qualified individuals. There are also a variety of enrichment courses available for a small fee.

What mandated classes does Plainville Adult and Continuing Education offer?
Adult Basic Education (ABE), Adult High School Credit Diploma Program (CDP), Citizenship Preparation, English as a Second Language (ESL), and GED® Preparation. In addition, the National External Diploma Program (NEDP) is available elsewhere via referral.

How much does it cost to enroll in mandated classes?
It’s 100% free.

How old do I have to be in order to register for mandated Adult Education Programs?
You must be at least 17 years old.

Can Plainville Adult and Continuing Education help me prepare for GED® tests?
Yes. Plainville Adult and Continuing Education offers a Pre-GED and GED program. Preparation classes are available to individuals who are at least 17 years old and officially withdrawn from school. An Entry assessment and interview are required to allow for appropriate placement in classes.

Do you offer a high school diploma program?
Yes. Plainville Adult and Continuing Education offers the Adult High School Credit Diploma Program. This provides students with the opportunity to enroll or continue to earn credits for a local high school diploma by taking required and elective courses at Plainville High School, from 4pm-7pm, Mondays through Thursdays.

What paperwork is required to register for the Adult High School Credit Diploma Program?
If you are 17 or 18 years old, you must bring your Official Letter of Withdrawal from the last school attended, along with your Official Transcript.

Is it too late to register if classes have already started?
We offer open enrollment; you may enroll at any time. Please refer to the current Plainville Adult and Continuing Education Program Guide publication for schedules.

• Adults who left school before graduating can return and earn a Plainville Adult High School Diploma or prepare to take their GED® exams and earn a General Educational Development Diploma from the State of CT
  
  
• Adults and youth ( ages 16+) may partake in Plainville’s enrichment courses through a wide variety of non-credit Continuing Education classes
